The pitch :

Gravital is basically a mix between Portal and Mega man, in 2D. Its an action platformer in which you use the Gravital Portal Cannon (GPC) to go through many rooms and defeat many ennemies. When you go through a portal, it changes your falling direction. you use this mechanic to avoid obstacles and other threats. 

My role :

Gravital was my first solo project. It was initially a school project that i went back to and continued developping. I made everything from scratch except for the sound design and the planets in the background.

 
Feedback physics and movements

I really put time and efforts into the game's feedback each and every player action, so that anyone could understand and enjoy this small game. I remember working for hours trying to find the right physics for the player movements so that they could have as much control as possible so that they could only blame themselves if they die.​

The main mechanic

The Gravity Portal Cannon was the hardest part to program. I didn't quite fully understand the reference system in unity and kept encountering exceptions I had trouble solving, so it took a while and some help before I could make the most important mechanic of this game.

Overall, I would say that I learned many basics in programming thanks to this project and I am happy to have succeeded in making a game that I am proud of for what it is.
